“Always in the big woods when you leave familiar ground and step off alone into a new place there will be, along with the feelings of curiosity and excitement, a little nagging of dread. It is the ancient fear of the Unknown, and it is your first bond with the wilderness you are going into.” Wendall Berry
After finishing university at 24, I bought a one way ticket to Ireland. With a working visa in my passport, and my passport in my pocket, I spent the next couple years living and working in Dublin and London.
I spent time on holidays enjoying Europe and Thailand, before coming back to Canada. While back home I took care of some responsibilities (the joys of being an adult), and a few years ago, when everything was taken care of, I set back out to travel for 3 months in Europe. I cried the whole 10 hour flight home – I wasn’t ready to be off the road.
For the last couple years, I have headed to the UK on holidays.
And now, I have quit my jobs, given away my stuff, and grabbed a couple guidebooks for inspiration.
With my passport in my pocket, I am up for any adventure, and ready to see the world…..
